Rabbits are just cute and fluffy little easy-to-care pets that are super duper cute, right?
Wrong. Just wrong.
There's a lot to learn about bunnies. But let's start out by it's basic needs:
Food.
Do you really think that rabbits just eat the pellet stuff that we always see in a commercial?
And do you possibly think you could just give your leftover veggies that you don't eat?
No! Their diet is much more complicated than THAT.
A rabbit's diet also has fruits, vegetables and hay. So in conclusion, a rabbit's diet is a few cups of rabbit food pellets, a bucket of hay, small amounts of fruits and vegetables everyday.
You think that's simple?
Baby rabbits CANNOT eat fruit or vegetables until they are at least six months old. You also need to give the correct amount of vegetables to avoid having problems such as diarrhea or just get sick. For rabbit food pellets, you should only give a handful of pellets. If not enough, just sustain your rabbits.
Those are important parts of your rabbits well-being. If you do not want to spend money monthly on healthy rabbit pellets, fruits, veggies and hay, then a rabbit is not a pet for you.
Remember! Those things can add up to a lot of money!
Interaction with your rabbit:
Of course, rabbits will get bored if you don't come and play with them often, mostly results to become mean and untame.
You need to play with it at least two hours a day, so if you are a busy person and usually don't have time to play that much time with a rabbit, then a rabbit is not a pet for you.
You can't just keep a rabbit in a small cage. They need lots of room to hop around and play. Your rabbit's hutch should be big enough for it's shelter and also has a place to hop around.
Think. Is there room for your rabbit's hutch and also a bigger room for them to play such as a playpen?
If not, you should not have a rabbit because a small cage is just cruel.
Those are a few things you should consider before thinking about having a pet rabbit. (○’ω’○)
You also need to consider all of the other stuffs like "do you have time and money if your rabbit gets sick and needs to go to the vet?", "do you have time to tame a pet rabbit?", "did you discuss with your parents?" or even "do you have time to bunny-proof your house or room?".
I'm not trying to discourage you from having a rabbit, I just want to let you know a pet rabbit has a lot of responsibilities. Are you up for it? If you think you are ready, set up a rabbit's hutch and go for it!
